Sean Combs is appealing Tuesday’s bond rejection in a hearing at the federal court building on Wednesday.

Combs was arrested on Monday night at a Midtown Manhattan hotel after a grand jury indicted him on sex trafficking charges.

A federal judge on Tuesday rejected Combs’ $50 million bond proposal. He secured the bond with his $48 million Star Island mansion in Miami and his mother’s home in Miami Beach, estimated at $4 million. The mortgages on both properties are paid off.

Judge Robyn Tarnofsky said her concern is “this is a crime that happens behind closed doors, even when pretrial services is monitoring.”

The judge told Combs there were no conditions she could find to assure her that he would appear in court if released.

Prosecutors describe Combs as the head of a criminal enterprise that engaged or attempted to engage in sex trafficking, forced labor, interstate transportation for purposes of prostitution, drug offenses, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice.

His lawyers are appealing the bond rejection at this hour. Reporters are gathered outside the courthouse to cover the bond hearing.

Combs’ legal team amended his $50 million bond proposal to include regular drug testing and no female visitors. He is asking for home detention at his Star Island residence in Miami.
