Amanda Seales’s appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast went viral on Wednesday, April 24. The “Insecure” star dragged Issa Rae for not empowering Black women.
In the 3-hour interview, Amanda complained about everyone who has wronged her in the industry.
Amanda took aim at writer/producer Issa Rae for not empowering her on “insecure.”
“She wasn’t empowering to me,” Amanda told Shannon Sharpe. “She didn’t feel like I deserved to be protected… I have still always protected her because I felt like it is my responsibility to do so, but I realize now it is not.”
Amanda complained that she was escorted out of a “Black Emmys party” at the request of Issa Rae’s publicist.
She said Issa later denied kicking her out of the party.
“She called me and said, ‘Hey, I heard what happened this weekend. I just want you to know I have nothing to do with it.’”
Amanda expressed disappointment that Issa didn’t intervene.
“I said, ‘Listen, I am not saying that it’s going to be a problem on set, but I do think it is a problem that you don’t feel that you need to step in.’”
Issa reportedly replied, “‘Well, then we just have a difference in opinion. This is between y’all.’”
Amanda can be heard on her daily podcast, “The Amanda Seales Show,” and her weekly podcast, “Small Doses.”
She also hosts a syndicated radio show with Reach Media and Radio One that airs on multiple radio stations around the country.
