R&B singer Cassie Ventura had “no comment” after the indictment and arrest of her abusive ex-boyfriend Sean Combs.
Combs was taken into custody by federal agents from Homeland Security at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan on Monday, Sept. 16.
“Earlier this evening, federal agents arrested Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment filed by the Southern District of New York,” Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District, said in a statement.
According to a federal indictment unsealed on Tuesday, Combs was hit with charges of sex trafficking by force, transportation to engage in prostitution, racketeering conspiracy, and arson.
“We knew this was coming,” Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, told reporters outside the federal courthouse on Tuesday.
He said Combs anticipated the charges ever since the feds raided his homes back in March.
The lawyer said Combs’s spirits are good. “He’s been dealing with this head on the way he has dealt with every challenge in his life.”
Cassie Ventura said “No comment” in a brief statement issued through her attorney, Douglas Wigdor, on Tuesday.
“In response to the numerous inquiries we have received regarding the indictment of Sean Combs, neither Ms. Ventura nor I have any comment,” the statement read. “We appreciate your understanding and if that changes, we will certainly let you know.”
The rap mogul’s arrest didn’t come as a complete surprise to insiders who claimed he would not be arrested because he’s a federal snitch. Now they’re saying the arrest is just a cover and that Combs will be released on bond today.
One insider said to expect a shocking arrest of a major rap figure in connection with Combs’ case. Combs is pictured with Cassie, rapper Jay Z, his wife, Beyonce, and Kim Kardashian in 2015.
Combs didn’t attempt to evade the long arms of the law by fleeing the country. His attorney said he voluntarily “relocated” to NY to face the indictment.
He could have hopped on a private jet and flown to Bali to hang out with Russell Simmons.
Simmons sold all of his assets and fled to Bali to evade arrest on sexual assault charges. Bali does not have an extradition agreement with the United States.
Remember when Cassie shaved off one side of her head and fans thought it was an edgy new style? Well, rumor has it she was forced to shave her hair after Combs snatched her bald during an abusive episode. She is pictured with Combs in Jamaica in 2013.
Combs’ arrest comes after his homes in California and Florida were raided by Homeland Security agents in late March.
The hip-hop mogul recently listed his L.A. mansion for $70 million after a private listing failed to generate any interest from billionaires.
Combs’ downfall began in late November 2023 when Cassie filed a sex trafficking and abuse lawsuit against him. He quickly settled the lawsuit the next day for unspecified terms.
Despite the quick settlement, a news outlet published shocking video that showed Combs chasing Cassie at a Los Angeles hotel. Surveillance video showed Combs throwing her to the floor and kicking her before attempting to drag her back to his suite. He later threw a glass vase at her.
