Police in Quevedo, Ecuador are investigating the murder of a former candidate for Miss Ecuador.
Landy Párraga, 23, was gunned down after she uploaded a photo of her meal at Ceviche restaurant. The image showed a meal of octopus with a side order of eggs.
Police believe the Instagram Stories photo tipped off the assassins to the location where Párraga was eating breakfast with her boyfriend.
Disturbing CCTV footage shows 2 men run inside Ceviche restaurant and open fire on Párraga as she stood talking to her boyfriend.
The footage shows Párraga was targeted by the gunmen and shot multiple times. A chilling photo shows Párraga’s distraught boyfriend kneeling next to her as she lay in a pool of blood.
Police in Queveda received a tip that the widow of drug trafficker Leandro Norero ordered the hit on Párraga.
Párraga finished in 5th place at the Miss Ecuador contest in 2022.
In December 2023, Párraga made headlines when her name was connected to drug trafficker Leandro Norero in old text messages found on his cell phone.
The texts were made public by the Attorney General’s Office as part of a major investigation into organized crime.
In the texts, Norero’s accountant, Helive Angulo, told the drug trafficker that the police had asked him about Párraga.
Norero texted back: “If my wife comes across anything about her, I’m screwed. My friend, her name cannot come out anywhere. Otherwise, my world will come crashing down.”
Norero was later killed in a prison riot in 2022.
Photos on his phone showed the expensive gifts he gave Párraga, such as apartments and cars, The Telegraph reported.
Norero financed Párraga’s lavish lifestyle, which she showed off on her Instagram page.
Párraga had over 1 million followers across all social media platforms.
Money transfers made to Párraga’s bank account are under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office.
She was never charged with any wrongdoing.
