Diddy‘s “Sean Diddy Combs Day” in his longtime home of Miami Beach has been rescinded amid the mounting allegations of abuse against the mogul.
According to a report from theMiami Heraldon Friday (June 28), the Miami Beach Commission has officially revoked a proclamation that declared October 13, 2016 as his day – which began in 2016 when he held the third annual REVOLT Music Conference in the Florida city.
The resolution stated: “Upon reflection, the Mayor and City Commission have determined that recognizing October 13, 2016 as ’Sean Diddy Combs Day’ is no longer in harmony with the City’s values of safety, community well-being, and respect, and wish to rescind the proclamation.”
A similar occurrence happened in Diddy’s hometown of New York earlier this month when his key to the city was rescinded by Mayor Eric Adams.
TMZ obtained two letters on June 15, one of which was sent to Combs Entertainment LLC’s office in New York and the other to his L.A. office. They were addressed to Diddy courtesy of Mayor Adams, who said he was “deeply disturbed” by the Cassie video.
Adams said in the letter that he stands with survivors of domestic abuse, and outlined that the key is used to recognize outstanding citizens. The Mayor noted that the Bad Boy mogul no longer fits the criteria.
The New York city chief also provided an address to which Diddy could return the key. This move marks the first time a key to the Big Apple has been rescinded.
Diddy reportedly received the letter on June 4 and returned the honor on June 10.
Rumors of the key withdrawal began back in May when the NYC Mayor spoke with PIX11 and was quizzed about the shocking footage that surfaced of Puffy attacking Cassie.
Asked whether Diddy’s key to New York City, which Adams presented to him during a ceremony in Times Square last September, could be revoked, the mayor said he and his team were considering it.
“I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him,” he said. “The committee and the team, we’ve never rescinded a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be.”
Asked again, in more direct fashion, if he was considering taking the honor away, Adams replied: “We are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back [to] me with a final determination.”
