The ex-husband of a woman found stabbed to death in her Marietta, Ga. apartment was arrested and charged with her murder.
Dr. Samantha Woolery, 42, was a first-year surgical resident at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta.
Her co-workers became suspicious when she didn’t show up for work on Sunday, Fox 5 News reported.
Her colleagues went to her apartment at the Lakeside at Town Center complex on Williams Drive.
The front door of the apartment was closed but not locked. Woolery’s body was found inside the apartment. She had visible knife wounds and was unresponsive.
On Monday afternoon, the Marietta Police Department announced that police in Carmel, Indiana arrested Dr. Woolery’s 49-year-old ex-husband, Mickey Anthony Woolery.
They are working with the Carmel police to extradite Mickey Woolery to Georgia.
He faces multiple charges, including Felony Possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, and Felony Malice Murder.
Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes confirmed that Dr. Samantha Wooley recently graduated from Western Michigan University and was completing her residency at Morehouse School of Medicine.
A GoFundMe created to help pay her funeral expenses raised $12,970 by Monday evening.
