An alert has been issued in Indiana for the 14-year-old son of former NFL player Daniel Muir.
A Silver Alert was issued for Bryson Muir on Friday, June 28.
He was last seen leaving his grandmother’s house in Cleveland, Ohio, with his mother, Kristen Muir, on June 16.
Bryson’s grandmother, Cheryl Wright, called police to report she saw her grandson with a black eye and other facial injuries while he was at her home.
Police stopped Kristen Muir’s car in Ohio soon after she left the residence, but Bryson was not in the car.
Wright said she picked up Bryson near Toledo at the request of his mother around June 14. That’s when Wright noticed his injuries.
“He just said that his dad did it, but he wasn’t angry at his father,” Wright told NBC affiliate WTHR. “He told me that he deserved it and it was OK. So I told him that it wasn’t and that nobody should beat their children like that, not if they love them.”
When Bryson’s parents arrived to pick him up on June 16, they were with an unidentified man, Wright said. After they left her home, Wright called the police.
Wright told WTHR that police informed her Bryson was likely transferred to another vehicle in the short time between when they left her home and when they were pulled over by local police.
“Bryson is, I believe, somewhere else, and they just don’t want to bring him back, maybe they don’t want the police to see his face,” Wright said.
The Muirs agreed to bring Bryson to state police headquarters at noon on Friday to prove he is safe. But they “backed out” at the last minute.
“While the Muirs are beginning to show signs of cooperation, Bryson has still not been seen or located by investigators from either ISP or DCS,” Indiana State Police said in a news release.
Bryson is described as 6′ 2″, 185 pounds and has black hair with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange Under Armour shirt and blue jeans, according to police.
The Muirs live in Logansport, Indiana, on the property of a religious group called the Servant Leader’s Foundation. The group is considered to be a cult.
Daniel Muir played in the NFL from 2007 to 2013.
