Music producer Clinton Dorsey, a.k.a “D-Billz” or “D-Billy,” was fatally shot by his son during a fight over dog breeding.

Police said Edward Dorsey, 22, shot his father Thursday in an apartment at the Arium Lenox Apartments in Brookhaven, a suburb of Atlanta.

“They were having an argument over the family business of dog breeding,” Sgt. John Clifford with the Brookhaven Police Department said in a statement. “The argument turned physical. From that, the son went and retrieved a semi-automatic pistol and shot and killed Mr. Dorsey.”

Dorsey is best known for producing the 2020 hit song “Throat Baby” by rapper BRS Kash.

He also worked with rappers Lil Baby, Da Baby, City Girls, YFN Lucci, Fatt Sosa, VL Deck, Peewee Longway, and more.

Dorsey was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area. He moved to Atlanta, where he made his mark as a music producer.

“His contributions to the music scene were immense, with hits like ‘Throat Baby; from BRS Kash standing as a testament to his talent and creativity,” business partner Derk Whitlock told FOX 5 News.

Edward Dorsey is charged with voluntary manslaughter, according to Brookhaven police.
