Jacksonville drill rapper Julio Foolio was fatally shot while attending his 26th birthday party in Tampa, Florida.
Foolio, real name Charles Jones, was killed Sunday morning at a Holiday Inn in north Tampa, his lawyer confirmed.
His lawyer said Jones was ambushed in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier in the evening, Jones advertised a pool party at an Airbnb in a post on his Instagram Story. He told followers to DM him for the address.
In a follow-up post, Jones complained that police shut the party down and kicked him out of the Airbnb.
“Best birthday everrrr appreciate everybody who pulled up we turnt up till we couldn’t nomo,” Jones wrote in another Instagram story hours before the shooting. “We otw to the show now yall pull-up.”
Jones went viral last Oct. when a gruesome photo of his foot injury circulated on social media after he was shot in an ambush in Jacksonville.
In the photo caption, he quoted lyrics from Ksoo’s track “Been Dead“: “All this money on my head I ‘posed to been dead. All this money on my head I ‘posed to been dead.”
At the time, Jones’ mother asked fans for prayers. “Keep Foolio, my son, in y’all prayers he was shot last night in his hating city,” his mother wrote in his Instagram Stories.
Jones’ music glorified gang violence and drug dealing.
In a screenshot from his music video “When I See You,” Jones sat next to a poster featuring three deceased teenagers.
Teens Tre’von Bullard, Royale D’Von Smith Jr., and Jercoby Da’Shad Groover were killed in a mass shooting in June 2018. Jones mocked their deaths in his music video.
