Gucci Mane explained why his roster of artists are in prison. The rap mogul shared his opinion during a recent episode of his wife’s “All Things Keyshia Ka’oir” podcast.
“So the streets want to know why all your 1017 artists keep going to jail,” Keyshia asked her husband.
“Oh, wow,” said Gucci, before asking, “That’s how we’re gonna start?”
“Yes, sir,” said Keyshia.
“Well, you know what I’m saying, to be honest, you know I was one of those type of artists. I was always going back and forth to jail,” Gucci said.
“I try… to help those artists that I feel like… I see a lot of myself in,” he added.
“So, with that being said, I try to ride it out with them through their bumps or whatever they’re going through. But, I feel like, If I’m not helping them, who else gon’ help them?”
Keyshia, founder of Ka’oir Cosmetics and Ka’oir Fitness, held Gucci down while he served time in prison from 2014-2016. He trusted her with his money and she grew his wealth while he was behind bars.
Gucci rewarded her by giving her his last name in 2017 (even though she doesn’t use it).
Keyshia and Gucci moved to Miami after he had a series of run-ins with police in Atlanta and DeKalb County, Georgia.
The couple shares two minor children.
