Carmen Bryan, who dated Jay-Z for 9 years, describes their first intimate encounter in her new book.
Carmen dated Jay-Z while she was with rapper Nas. She recalled waking up to Jay-Z kissing her on the lips after falling asleep on the sofa.
She described the intimate details of their 9-year relationship in her new autobiography titled “It’s No Secret: From Nas to Jay-Z, from Seduction to Scandal-a Hip-Hop Helen of Troy Tells All.”
The 52-year-old former singer said she fell pregnant with Jay-Z’s baby but miscarried their child in 1995. She gave birth to her and Nas’ daughter Destiny Jones in 1994.
In her book, Carmen describes Jay-Z – whose real name is Shawn Carter – as “very warm and extremely humble” after first meeting in 1995 while she was in a relationship with fellow rapper, Nas, now 51.
But she dragged Jay-Z after he named-dropped her in a Nas diss track. In his song “Supa Ugly,” released in 2004, Jay-Z rapped about being intimate with Carmen in a Jeep and leaving his used condom in her daughter’s baby seat.
“Wrong move! That was the moment I lost all respect for SC,” she wrote in her book.
Carmen confessed to Nas after the release of Memphis Bleek and Jay-Z’s track “Is That Your Chick,” a highly detailed song about stealing another man’s woman.
She said Nas called her on the phone after the song dropped. He called to ask her about the track after years of ignoring the rumors.
Carmen recalled their difficult conversation. She wrote: “Nas, it’s true…The rumors are true. I have been seeing Jay-Z.”
During the 3am phone call, Carmen explained she and Jay-Z had been having an affair after they met as friends in 1995.
In an interview with VLAD TV in 2017, Carmen also admitted she fell pregnant with Jay-Z’s baby which she later miscarried.
“I believe I was three months, it was the first trimester. It wasn’t anything crazy, it wasn’t planned. It wasn’t like ‘Oh we are going to have this baby’.”
