Former Atlanta Dream star Angel McCoughtry is plotting her WNBA comeback to protect the No. 1 draft pick Caitlin Clark.

37-year-old McCoughtry joined Babcock on the “TMZ Sports” TV show after Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter body-checked Clark, knocking her to the floor last week.

The intentional foul sparked outrage and debates around the basketball world.

McCoughtry agreed with Charles Barkley, Matt Barnes and Draymond Green who called out Clark’s Indiana Fever teammates for not protecting her.

“Indiana better go invest in an enforcer… FAST!” Green wrote in the comments section of an ESPNW post.

Barnes, who co-hosts the All The Smoke podcast with fellow former NBA player Stephen Jackson, called out Clark’s teammates.

“My issue and my question is, where the f— are her teammates at? Where y’all at? Where are the rest of the Indiana Fever? I’ve seen a couple girls smirk when she’s got knocked down, half-a– to pick her up. Like, y’all are supposed to protect the asset, protect the star and although this is a team, she’s the star.”

McCoughtry, 37, agreed with Barnes, saying all teammates should protect each other around the league.

“Take care of your players. All of y’all. I don’t care who it is. If somebody is dragging your player down by the neck, I’m in your face. ‘What the hell are you doing?’ Hey, we can go have lunch later, but right now we’re competing. Don’t grab my player like that,” she said.

McCoughtry said she will happily defend the league’s No. 1 star attraction from bullies like Carter.

“Someone sign me! I’ll make sure, I’m a vet and I’ll make sure I defend and do what I gotta do,” McCoughtry said.

“I’m actually waiting to go back [to the WNBA]. Somebody, I’m here! Call me!. C’mon, I’m still dunking the basketball!”

She continued: “I would love to play on a team that can contest for a championship or be a vet to help the young ones … like Caitlin Clark. She needs that vet around her arm just pushing her through the season.”
