A man who claims to be Janet Jackson’s former manager says he was fired for apologizing on her behalf.

The news comes after Jackson went viral for questioning Vice President Kamala Harris’ ethnicity in an interview with The Guardian.

“Well, you know what they supposedly said? She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian,” said Jackson.

Mo Elmasri, who claimed to be Jackson’s manager, issued an apology on her behalf. He told BuzzFeed on Sunday that the singer’s comments were “based on misinformation” and apologized for “any confusion caused.”

“She values the diversity Harris represents and understands the importance of celebrating that in today’s society. Janet remains committed to promoting unity and understanding,” said Elmasri.

He also said that his statement was an attempt to improve Jackson’s “image in front of public opinion and her fans.”

Jackson’s representatives dismissed his statement to Variety, saying that Elmasri wasn’t her manager and he isn’t authorized to speak on her behalf.

Elmasri later told The Daily Beast on Sunday that Janet and her brother Randy fired him.

“That’s all I can say,” added Elmasri, who reiterated his “support” for Harris.

Some of you may recall when Harris declared she was America’s first Indian-American Senator back in 2016. She didn’t mention being Black at that time.

“The victory for 51-year-old Harris makes her the first Indian-American senator. Harris was backed by President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and other top Democrats.”

So you can see how confusing American politics can be for British citizens like Janet and Randy Jackson.

Janet is managed by her brother Randy. They both live in London, England. They are still mourning the death of their older brother Tito Jackson, who died of a heart attack on Sept. 15 at age 70.
