Rapper Jay-Z (left) has been accused of drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean Combs (right) in the early 2000s.
In an amended lawsuit filed Sunday, a woman identified as Jane Doe claims the 2 billionaire music moguls drugged and raped her at an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000.
The woman originally filed a lawsuit against Combs in October but did not name Jay-Z in the complaint.
In her amended lawsuit on Sunday, the woman claims she was 13 when she attended the VMAs after party. She said she began to feel woozy after consuming a drink at the party and wandered into a nearby bedroom. She alleges Jay-Z raped her first, followed by Combs. The woman says she hit Combs and ran out of the party.
Combs was arrested in Manhattan in September and charged with human trafficking. He is in a federal lockup in Brooklyn awaiting trial scheduled for May 2025.
Houston attorney Tony Buzbee allegedly sent a letter to Jay-Z‘s lawyers requesting “confidential mediation” to avoid a lawsuit.
In November, a prominent law firm that represented Jay-Z in the past filed a lawsuit against Buzbee alleging extortion.
The lawyers accused Buzbee of “shamelessly attempting to extort exorbitant sums from” Jay-Z.
Buzbee responded to the lawsuit, writing: “Upon present information and belief, Jay-Z responded to said letter by not only filing an utterly frivolous lawsuit, but by also orchestrating a conspiracy of harassment, bullying and intimidation against Plaintiff’s lawyers, their families, employees and former associates in an attempt to silence Plaintiff from naming Jay-Z herein.”
Buzbee added: “This effort was meant to scare Plaintiff and to discredit her counsel. That effort failed. Indeed, Plaintiff chose to file this amendment as a result of the egregious conduct perpetuated by [Jay-Z].”
News of the amended civil complaint was first reported by NBC News on Sunday night.
Jay-Z responded to the lawsuit in a carefully worded statement to CNN on Sunday.
He called the allegations “so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”
