Jay-Z is in a hurry to clear his name after a woman accused him of drugging and assaulting her — alongside Sean Combs back in 2000. The incident allegedly happened following the MTV Video Music Awards in New York in New York City.
Jay-Z wants his day in court before the Super Bowl committee asks him to step down and he loses lucrative endorsements.
The rapper is the entertainment strategist for the Super Bowl Halftime Show through his company Roc Nation.
In an amended lawsuit on Sunday, a woman described banging on limousine windows outside the Radio City Music Hall seeking a ride to one of the VMAs after parties. She claimed Sean Combs’ limo driver gave her a lift to a private house party after telling her she was Combs’ type.
At the house she was given an alcoholic drink that was drugged and she went into a bedroom to sleep it off.
There, she was allegedly assaulted by both rappers while a celebrity woman watched. The mystery woman was identified in the lawsuit as “Celebrity B.”
On Sunday, Jay-Z vigorously denied the allegations in a lengthy statement to CNN. He called the allegations “idiotic” and a “shakedown.”
On Monday, Jay-Z’s lawyer filed a motion to deny the plaintiff’s request to proceed anonymously. Jay-Z’s attorney asked a judge to “respectfully” speed up the process “Due to the highly sensitive nature of this matter and the intense media scrutiny it has generated.”
“Plaintiff’s request to proceed anonymously is procedurally improper and unsupported by law,” the filing stated. The lawyer cited a rule that “requires all parties to be named in their pleadings…”
“Mr. Carter should not have to defend himself in the brightest of spotlights against an accuser who hides in complete darkness while leveling allegations that describe the purported acts occurring in the plain sight of witnesses who could refute the plaintiff’s claims if only her identity was revealed,” the filing said.
The filing continued: “Mr. Carter deserves to know the identity of the person who is effectively accusing him — in sensationalized, publicity-hunting fashion — of criminal conduct, demanding massive financial compensation, and tarnishing a reputation earned over decades.”
This is the quickest I’ve ever seen Jay Z respond to anything lmaooo
