A St. Louis girl has awakened from a coma and is learning to speak and walk again after a brutal beating.

Kaylee Gain’s family says she is awake and speaking after a school fight left her in a coma and on life support.

Kaylee, 16, suffered a skull fracture, bleeding on the brain and frontal lobe damage after the attack.

The assault happened a few blocks from Hazelwood East High School on March 8.

Cell phone video shows Kaylee convulsing on the ground while her attacker fought with other students.

The 15-year-old attacker was arrested and may be charged as an adult.

The assault quickly became a racial powder keg since the victim is white and her assailant is Black.

The video shows the juvenile attacker viciously bashing Kaylee’s head on the pavement as other students fought with each other.

Kaylee’s grandmother Terry Nordstrom Thompson says her granddaughter has no memory of the fight.

In a Facebook post, Thompson called the assault “vicious” and “unforgivable”.

“We love her so much and hoping and praying for a full recovery but the road is long,” the post said.

Attorney General Andrew Bailey said the “evil” 15-year-old student should be “tried as an adult.”

Bailey blamed the “radical, woke DEI policies” of former St. Louis District Attorney Kim Gardner and current Rep. Cori Bush for the violence.

“These children grew up in St Louis. They have watched a Soros-backed prosecutor Kim Gardner who refused to prosecute criminal defendants,” Bailey said.

A GoFundMe set up for Kaylee’s medical expenses raised over $404,000 by Easter Sunday.

The other girl’s family launched a Change.org petition asking for compassion for the teenager. An attorney representing the other girl described her as an “A-list” student on the honor roll.

A GoFundMe that raised over $3,000 for her legal fees was shut down a day later. GoFundMe does not allow crowdfunding for people charged with violent crimes.
