Director Lee Daniels sat down with actress/comedienne Mo’Nique for dinner after attending the first press day for The Deliverance.
Lee shared a photo on X, formerly Twitter, after Mo’Nique showed up to promote the film.
In his post, Lee reflected on his and Mo’Nique’s 25 year friendship.
He wrote: “At dinner here on our first press day for The Deliverance, it got me reflecting on the 25-year friendship I’ve had with the actor @moworldwide. Like any REAL friendship, it’s one that’s stood the test of times. AND BOY HAVE OUR TIMES BEEN TESTED.”

From Shadowboxer to Precious into #TheDeliverance, she continues to amaze me at the depths of where she goes. I can’t wait for you to see her as you’ve never seen her before. She’s Cynthia, the concerned kickass social worker. ?????

If you recall. Mo’Nique and Lee fell out because she refused to promote their 2009 movie, Precious.
At the time, Mo’Nique complained that she didn’t receive compensation to promote the movie overseas.
Later, Mo’Nique accused Lee, Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey of blacklisting her in Hollywood.
In 2022, Lee and Mo’Nique kissed and made up. The director apologized to Mo’ publicly and announced he was casting her in his next film.
The Deliverance is in theaters on August 16, and August 30 on Netflix.
