Rapper Lil Uzi Vert wears a pair of women’s culottes in a new ad campaign for Stephen Sprouse x Marc Jacobs’s limited-edition 40th Anniversary Tote Bag.
Jacobs reunited with New York artist Stephen Sprouse to bring back the stylish bags.
The graffiti-covered bags became some of the most sought-after leather goods in New York City in the ’80s.
Now, 24 years later, Jacobs is bringing the magic again.
“I wanted to use Stephen’s graffiti because it meant something to me,” Jacobs wrote on Instagram. “Stephen as an artist, Stephen as a New York figure. It had the credibility of street, but also the style of somebody who was a fashion designer.”
But the big buzz on social media is metrosexual rapper Lil Uzi Vert and why he chose to bring back women’s culottes.
Culottes are high-waisted, short pants cut to resemble a skirt.
The late Princess Diana popularized culottes in the ’80s.
The rapper was styled by Alastair McKimm and photographed by Nick Newbold.
