Mourners filled Brentwood Baptist Church in Nashville to pay their respects to Grammy-winning Christian singer Mandisa Lynn Hundley on Saturday.

Mandisa, 47, was found dead in her Williamson County home on April 18. A spokesperson for Franklin Police Department said no foul play is suspected.

There are rumors that she took her own life. She previously spoke about her struggle with depression.

But Mandisa’s father, John Hundley, doubts she took her own life.

“She did not harm herself,” John told the mourners. “Mandisa loved the Lord, and the Lord loved Mandisa.”

John said his daughter’s body was found on the floor near her bed. Her phone was on the nightstand on the other side of the bed. The phone was too far for her to reach to call for help, he said.

John said Mandisa told him she contracted COVID-19, “and she had been weak trying to get over that, but she was trying to press through.”

It’s unknown whether Mandisa was vaccinated.

He said her cause of death would not be released for 3 weeks. John’s sons and nephew stood at the podium with him as he spoke.
