Tyreek Hill is considering filing a lawsuit against the Miami-Dade Police Department after an officer “briefly detained” him on his way to work.

The Miami Dolphins star wide receiver was placed in handcuffs for a traffic violation outside the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on Sunday.

The overzealous police officer was placed on administrative leave with pay for unnecessary use of force.

The incident happened about three hours before kickoff of the Miami Dolphins vs Jacksonville Jaguars game.

Hill, 30, was on his way to work when he was pulled over and handcuffed for driving 5 miles an hour over the posted 60 mph speed limit.

Cell phone video shows Hill in handcuffs on the ground near his luxury sports car. A Miami-Dade officer yells at Hill with a knee on Hill’s back.

Hill was eventually released and allowed to continue on to work. He caught 7 passes for 130 yards including an 80-yard TD reception in the Dolphins’ 20-17 win over the Jaguars.

During a touchdown celebration, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle mimicked handcuffing Hill in the end zone.

After the game, Hill told reporters he had “no idea” why he was placed in handcuffs. He said he wasn’t disrespectful to the cops because his mom “didn’t raise me that way.”

He continued: “I don’t want to being race into it. But sometimes it’s kind of iffy when you do. What if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill? Lord knows what those guys would have did.”

Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told the Miami Herald that Hill’s attorneys “will be pursuing this matter on Tyreek’s behalf.”

“What happened today to Tyreek at the stadium is completely unacceptable,” Rosenbaum said. “Tyreek did not deserve to be treated that way by the police involved.”

Hill’s teammate Calais Campbell told NFL Network that he was also placed in handcuffs when he stopped to try to “deescalate the situation.”

“That was a first,” Campbell said after the game. “Being 17 years in this game, I don’t really see a lot of firsts. But I saw Tyreek getting apprehended, I just wanted to make sure everything was OK. Officer felt a certain type of way, put handcuffs on me.”

Hill said that it meant a lot seeing his teammates have his back.

Miami-Dade Police director Stephanie V. Daniels said in a statement on Sunday that the officer has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is conducted.

“That should tell you everything you need to know,” Hill told reporters when informed that an officer was placed on leave.
