Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hired armed security to guard his home when he’s traveling on the road.
Tagovailoa took action after a South American burglary crew targeted the homes of professional athletes in recent months.
“We got personal security to take care of all of that. When we’re on the road, we’ve got someone with my wife, got someone also at the house, surveying the house,” Tagovailoa said.
The quarterback hired security after one of his cars was broken into at his home while his wife was inside the house. “It (was) a little too close for my comfort, with my family being in the house,” he said.
Tagovailoa added that the security is armed. “So I hope that if you decide to go to my house, you think twice,” he said.

The NFL issued a security alert in November to warn players about the burglaries. The most recent victim is Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow whose house was broken into while he played against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.
Burrows has been engaged to Olivia Holzmacher for months. But Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Olivia Ponton is the one who called 911 to report the break-in.
Fans wonder why Ponton was at Burrows’ home and where is his fiancee.

Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce also had their homes broken into last month.
Mahomes reportedly lost jerseys, medals, trophies, awards and more taken from his estate during the early morning robbery. Organized criminals also stole jewelry and designer bags belonging to his wife Brittany last month.

The NFL bulletin warned NFL players that perpetrators “appear to exploit team schedules to target athletes’ homes on game days.” They also use “public records, social media, media reports and surveillance to gather information on their targets.”
Once they make entry into the home, thieves head straight for the master bedroom and closets where valuables and safes are kept.
