Singers Monica Arnold and Brandy Norwood make a cameo appearance as news reporters. They discuss the mayor’s press conference in which he addresses the city’s rat problem.
“The Boy Is Mine” is inspired by Monica and Brandy’s 1998 hit song of the same name.
The video plot centers around a woman who stalks the city’s new mayor, who she describes as “so hot.”
The mayor is played by actor Penn Badgley (“Gossip Girl”).
Ariana watches the press conference and instantly falls in love with the mayor.
After the press conference, a stray cat jumps through Ariana’s window and knocks over her bottle of pink love potion that’s on the counter. The bottle shatters on the kitchen floor.
Ariana uses a syringe to draw up some of the spilled liquid off the floor.
She then sews a cat costume which she wears when she stalks the mayor and breaks into his apartment.
Her plan is to pour the love potion down the mayor’s throat to make him fall in love with her. But she’s wearing a sexy cat costume. Who can resist her?
The mayor snatches the bottle of love potion and throws it against a wall. It shatters and forms a pink heart shape.
As the credits roll, Ariana and the mayor are seen as a married couple with a room full of cats.
“The Boy Is Mine” is off Ariana’s new album, Eternal Sunshine, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
