Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones has offered to pay $1.5 million to free a 68-year-old Illinois school food service worker from prison.
Vera Liddell was convicted of stealing 11,000 cases of frozen chicken wings from 2020 to 2022.
The former Harvey school district food service director pled guilty earlier this month as part of a plea deal. She was sentenced to 9 years in prison on Friday.
Jones, who doesn’t know Liddell, is among those who say the punishment doesn’t fit the crime.
Jones made the offer to pay for the stolen chicken wings in a post on social media.
“I’ll pay for the wings that she stole to get her free,” Jones wrote on his official X.com account on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
Jones can afford to pay Liddell’s debt to society. The defensive tackle and the Chiefs agreed to a 5-year, $95 million contract in March of this year.
Liddell’s supporters on X praised Jones for his generosity. They also asked presidential candidates Trump and Harris to intervene on Liddell’s behalf.
Chris Jones.
Man of the people.
Humanitarian.
Known wing enthusiast.

Seriously, 9 years for that, this country is a joke. Hunter Biden and Trump will get less than that combined.

Just shows society values chicken wings more than people cause probation is given often when people are unalived. Stealing isn’t ok but 9 years!!! Come on man!
