The anticipation for the comedy film “One of Them Days” is so high that the release date has been moved up to Martin Luther King Jr holiday weekend.
One of Them Days, starring Keke Palmer and SZA, was originally scheduled to hit theaters on January 24. But the release date was moved up to January 17.
A studio source tells Variety the release date was moved up to take advantage of the four-day holiday weekend. No other comedies are currently scheduled to be released in theaters that weekend.
The plot centers around best friends and roommates Dreux (Keke) and Alyssa (SZA) who discover Alyssa’s boyfriend blew their rent money on foolishness. Now the besties must find $1,500 to pay their rent or they will be put out on the curb.
The 2 friends go to extremes to earn rent money to avoid eviction and keep their friendship intact.
One of Them Days also stars Lil Rel Howery, Katt Williams, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Janelle James, and Maude Apatow. The film is produced by Issa Rae and directed by Lawrence Lamont from a script by Syreeta Singleton.
The movie’s title was inspired by singer Monica’s hit song of the same name.
