The parents of a 14-year-old carjacking suspect in Jackson, Mississippi, turned him in to police after seeing a viral video.

Jamontae Latrell Kelly and an unidentified suspect carjacked a family in their driveway on May 24.

Kelly’s parents took him to the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday night after they saw him on a news report.

Officers picked up the teenager and transported him back to the Jackson Police Department.

He is charged with armed carjacking and six counts of aggravated assault.

On Thursday, a judge set Kelly’s bond at $1.75 million, WJTV reports.

Police are still searching for the second suspect.

Heather Allen, her children and grandchildren were heading to North Mississippi to visit family when the suspects walked up her driveway.

Allen and her son crouched down outside the vehicle when one of the suspects fired a shot at them.

“They kind of do a U-turn, come walking up. You know, they say something, and I can’t recall what they say, but they start shooting at me,” Allen told a news reporter. “And they’re like, ‘Give me the keys. Give me the keys.’ And they yanked and pulled my daughter out of the car. And I stood up, and I saw them,” said Allen.

Allen got her children and grandchildren out of the car, but the suspects couldn’t start the car.

That’s when Allen tossed them the keys to another car parked on her lawn. The suspects got in the car and drove off.

Police found the car two blocks away.

Allen said she just moved to the area three months ago but now she wants to move out.

“I’m not sleeping. My oldest son, his anxiety is through the roof — he’s even scared. My daughter, she has shock, but they’re safe,” Allen told WAPT.

“We can’t stay here anymore,” she added.

A GoFundMe has been created to help Allen and her family move to a “more civilized area”.
