A woman shopping at a Whole Foods Market in Georgia said a male ejected bodily fluids on her while she shopped.
Chamblee police arrested Troy Calliste following a disturbance at the Whole Foods Market at 5001 Peachtree Boulevard near Clairmont Road on May 11.
“I see this gentleman walking down the aisle who’s pretending to be shopping and he’s holding a basket,” Dr. Sabine Lovell, a plastic surgeon, told FOX 5 News. “He looked kind of like a normal gentleman, like late 20s, early 30s, nothing like extra suspicious about him. I bent over to grab the chips and as I was doing that, I felt something like wet and warm on my back. And so I put my hand on the small of my back, and then I saw that it was like this gooey, white substance. And I turn around, and I see this guy looking at me, and then he zips his pants up.”
Dr. Lovell chased Calliste out of the supermarket and into the parking lot. She told FOX 5 that she wanted to draw as much attention as possible to the suspect.
“This was broad daylight on a Saturday. I’m sure he’s done this before or this could escalate to something more like rape or murder. So I want to make sure that this goes on his record and it follows him,” said Lovell.
A witness saw the man get into a black Kia and took a photo of the license plate.
Calliste, 28, was arrested in Gwinnett County and charged with sexual battery and public indecency.
Chamblee police said they reviewed the store’s security camera footage, and it appears to corroborate the victim’s story.
A representative for Whole Foods Market says they are cooperating with the police investigation.
Calliste is being held in the DeKalb County Jail.
