Police have identified the suspect wanted in a deadly shooting at a Church’s Chicken in Memphis, Tennessee.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Monica Williams, who is accused of killing Anitra West while she was at work Monday night.
West, 48, was working in the drive-thru to support her family.
The incident happened at Church’s Chicken at 2963 Park Avenue in Orange Mound. Williams pulled into the drive-thru just before 9 p.m. and began arguing with West.
Police said Williams drove off and West went outside “to get some air.” A few minutes later, co-workers heard gunfire outside.
Williams fled the scene in a teal compact SUV with a child’s carseat in the back.
Police found West outside the restaurant suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police confirmed the two women did not know each other, and the dispute was over a food order.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our team members. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family during this difficult time. We are working closely with the Memphis Police Department on their ongoing investigation,” a Church’s spokesperson said in a statement to FOX13 News.
A Church’s Chicken spokesperson said West had been working there for a year.
The location will be closed for the next few days.
