Queen Latifah’s popular crime series “The Equalizer” was renewed for season 5. That’s a big deal. It means she has a loyal audience who watches the series every week.
The Equalizer is about a mysterious female vigilante who defends the helpless with her amazing physical skills. Robyn McCall (Latifah) works secretly with a police officer to get around the local laws.
She is also a single mom to her woke teenage daughter (Laya DeLeon Hayes) and a confidante to her bi-curious live-in auntie (Lorraine Toussaint).
On Monday, the retired rapper and actress took to Instagram to share her excitement about being back on the set and filming the new season.
“It’s so nice to be back on the set of ‘The Equalizer’ shooting Season 5! Thank you, people!” she said in a video.
Queen Latifah, 54, showed the crew preparing to film an action scene. “We in these New York streets. Yeah, it’s a blessing. Thank you!” she said.
The Equalizer debuted to an impressive 20.4 million viewers in February 2021.
After a successful career as a rapper, Queen Latifah starred in the FOX TV sitcom “Living Single.” She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 2002 film “Chicago”.
And she played a familiar blogger in the 2017 comedy film Girls Trip.
On Wednesday, July 24, actor Rami Malek (who played Queen frontman Freddy Mercury) and actress Emma Corrin (who famously played Princess Diana in the Crown) ran into Queen Latifah while she lunched in New York City’s West Village.
The Equalizer is filmed on location in New York City.
