Actress Sarah Paulson says she and Holland Taylor live separately after near 10 years together.
Taylor, 81, is best known for her role as the snarky Evelyn in the TV sitcom “Two and a Half Men” (2003–2015).
Paulson, 49, revealed their living arrangements during an appearance on the “SmartLess” podcast on May 13.
“Yeah, we don’t live together. That’s the secret to it,” Paulson said. “We spend plenty of time together, but we don’t live in the same house.”
When asked how that works, Paulson explained that “part of it has to do with, we’re together when we want to be and we’re not when we don’t.”
After the podcast hosts suggested they could try living in the same house but have separate bedrooms, the nurse Ratched actress dismissed that idea.
“No, because my favorite thing to do — we fall asleep holding hands. I like to sleep near her,” she says, before adding, “I don’t want to be around her the rest of the time. Just kidding.”
Paulson met Taylor at a dinner party in 2005. Paulson (right) dated actress Cherry Jones (left) at the time. Taylor was also dating a younger actress.
Taylor and Paulson reconnected 15 years later when Taylor slid into Paulson’s DMs.
“It’s a long story. We met a very, very long time ago. I was with someone else; she was, too,” Paulson recalled. “We sort of breezed by one another, and then started following each other on Twitter …”
Paulson said Taylor’s dating history may be the reason why their living arrangement didn’t work out.
“Holland, before me, hasn’t been in a ton of long-term relationships, whereas Holland is my third. I tend to [live with women] and have more experience doing that, Holland hasn’t. So to get to be her age and sort of not having really cohabited with someone for a long time — I think it was a lot to sort of have me and all my me-ness in her space.”
