Sean Combs hit music executive Shakir Stewart with a chair at L.A. Reid’s wedding in Italy in 2000.
Combs was reportedly outraged over Stewart’s relationship with his ex, Kim Porter.
On Tuesday, May 28, Rolling Stone published an exposé that detailed Combs’s history of violence toward women in his personal and professional lives.
The rap mogul reportedly went to Stewart’s hotel room after the wedding ceremony and allegedly broke a chair over the music executive’s head, Stewart’s mother and close friends confirmed to Rolling Stone.
“He left him bleeding on a hotel floor in Italy,” Stewart’s mother, Portia, said. “He had to have stitches and then [Combs] threatened him … ‘I’m going to kill you’ … That’s when I said you need to get out of this business. This man is crazy,” Portia added.
Stewart took his own life at his North Georgia home on Nov. 1, 2008. He was 34.
Porter previously told Essence magazine that she and Stewart dated while Combs was dating Jennifer Lopez. Porter said Combs was very controlling. He would call her “50, 60 times a day.”
“It was like my life was not my own… He was very, very intrusive,” she told Essence.
Porter died of double pneumonia at her Los Angeles home on Nov 15, 2018 at age 47. She was mom to Combs’s son Christian, and twins D’Lila Star and Jessie James.
