Former NBA star-turned-podcaster Gilbert Arenas is off the market. The 42-year-old father of 4 announced his engagement to YouTuber Melli Monaco on Monday.
Gilbert shared a photo of himself with his fiancee on Instagram. He captioned the post: “The Eiffel Tower is Where it happened, She said nothing i guess i was so nervous, i asked and answered yes for her so im technically engaged to myself at the moment @mellimonaco still waiting.”
Gilbert and Melli are in Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games. Melli, a 33-year-old Capricorn, grew up in Paris.
In a recent Instagram post, Melli celebrated Father’s Day with Gilbert. She captioned the post: “Happy Father’s Day to this beautiful human @no.chill.gil Such a supportive daddy…”
Her followers are not impressed with Gilbert at all.
One person wrote: “How do you date an Uncle Tom?”
Another person wrote: “I wonder how he really feels abt you and your family with his xenophobic rhetoric…”
While a third person wrote: “Good luck but you picked an ungrown adult.”
Melli is author of the book/course “The Ultimate Love/Cheat Code.” She has 416,000 followers on Instagram and over 700,000 subscribers on YouTube.
She is also an aspiring singer and Instagram model.
Gilbert previously dated Laura Govan, 44. They share 4 children.
