Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner teamed up to discuss their ex, Ben Affleck. Sources close to the Jennifers say they agree that their ex is difficult to live with.
Lopez filed for divorce on Aug. 20 after spending 2 years trying to make Affleck happy. The date of their separation is listed as April 26.
A source close to Lopez tells People.com she “did spend a lot of time making sure Ben was happy and had everything he needed.”
“The way she cared for him was almost childlike,” the source said. “Friends constantly reminded her that she’s not responsible for his feelings. He’s very moody and dark at times. Jennifer appreciates life in another way. She’s very grateful for everything.”
Affleck moved out of their marital home and into a house near Jennifer Garner and their three kids.
Paparazzi photos showed Affleck constantly leaning on Garner for emotional support after he married Lopez.
Garner’s body language indicated she was tired of being Affleck’s shoulder to cry on.
She allegedly told a friend that Affleck lacks coping skills and “has never handled stress well.”
“He doesn’t have good coping skills. He gets easily frustrated and tends to be moody,” the source said. “When he’s relaxed and in a good mood, it’s amazing to be around him. But more often, he’s upset or frustrated.”
Garner allegedly said Affleck is easily triggered by the smallest thing.
“Many times, it’s just something small that he gets stuck on,” the source added. “He really doesn’t understand how his bad mood affects people around him. It’s just not fun being around that kind of negativity.”
Meanwhile, another source told People.com that Affleck is “doing well and is very focused” now that he’s single.
“He thrives when he has work projects. He’s been great when it comes to the kids too,” the source said. “He’s doing exactly what he wants. He seems very happy.”
