We may finally know why former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick lost the Atlanta Falcons job.
Belichick and the Patriots parted ways earlier this year. He was considered the Falcons’ top choice for head coach. The team sent a private jet to fly him to Atlanta for interviews.
But Atlanta, who hasn’t had a winning season since 2017, instead hired Raheem Morris.
Belichick’s personal life may have played a role in the Falcons’ decision.
The 72-year-old is reportedly dating 24-year-old former cheerleader Jordan Hudson.
Sources tell TMZ the two became an item shortly after he called off his longtime relationship with Linda Holliday, 60.
Belichick and Holliday dated for 16 years before they split last year.
An insider told People.com that Belicheck chose football over Holliday.
“Bill is all about football and very busy now. He doesn’t want a lot of public attention on this,” the source told People.com about the split.
There are reports that Patriots owner Robert Kraft “interfered” in the Falcons interview process.
Falcons owner Arthur Blank was reportedly “impressed” with Belichick.
But Kraft called Blank on the phone “to warn him not to trust Bill,” according to the NY Post.
The Post said Kraft is “a big part” of why Belichick lost out on the Falcons head coach job.
