President-elect Donald Trump will pay reparations to White people who suffered “racial discrimination” due to DEI programs in colleges.
In a video from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump said, “I will direct the Department of Justice to pursue civil rights cases against schools that continue to engage in racial discrimination.”
Trump is referring to the controversial diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs in colleges around the country.
The president-elect said he would tax the endowments of schools engaging in DEI and fine them billions of dollars. He proposed that a “portion of the seized funds will then be used as restitution for victims of these illegal and unjust policies, policies that hurt our country so badly.”
America First Legal, which was founded by Trump’s incoming deputy chief of staff for policy, Stephen Miller, has filed dozens of anti-DEI lawsuits claiming anti-White discrimination.

Trump also said he will close the Department of Education, which was created under the Jimmy Carter administration in 1979.
The president-elect said he will send all education work back to all 50 states.
“We want [the states] to run the education of our children because they’ll do a much better job of it,” Trump said.

The closure of the Department of Education would require congressional approval, but Republicans control the House and Senate, as well as the Supreme Court (the so-called “Trifecta”).
Democratic strategist Ameshia Cross warns that Trump’s plan to eliminate the Department of Education will negatively impact Black and Brown communities.
But critics say public schools rank last in educational systems around the world due to the DoE’s liberal policies. Public schools in Black communities fare the worst. Black children consistently rank at the bottom in scholastic test scores.
Trump vowed to further cut funding for schools that teach gender identity and tell children they can be born in the wrong bodies.
Trump insists “the only genders recognized by the U.S. government are male and female and they are assigned at birth.”
