Vice President Kamala Harris flew to Atlanta for a fireside chat with rapper Quavo. Harris sat down with the Migos rapper at the Rocket Foundation Summit on gun violence prevention at the Carter Center on Tuesday, June 18.
Quavo was selected to participate because he lost his nephew and fellow Migos member Takeoff (Kirsnick Ball) to gun violence in 2022.

Tuesday would have been Takeoffโs 30th birthday.
Quavo told Harris he supports the gun control initiative because he doesnโt want his nephewโs death to be in vain.
โMy nephew is a legend. He died for a cause and right now we gonna change the world for him,โ Quavo said.

โWe gotta start here in Atlanta,โ Quavo said. โWe gotta start here with the culture and making sure we have money for resources.โ
The Biden administration is handing out $20,000 grants to several organizations whose mission is to stop gun violence.
โWe have more work to do, but good work is happening and letโs not let anybody make us think that we cannot make a difference,โ Harris said at the summit. โItโs never-ending in some ways, but we canโt let these circumstances take away our purpose and our knowledge that we can make a difference.โ
The Internet had a lot to say about the fireside chat. X/Twitter users werenโt happy that Quavo sat down with the Vice President to talk about gun control.
One user noted that Quavo is a hypocrite since he raps about gun violence.
