The WNBA overturned one of 2 technical fouls that resulted in Angel Reese being ejected during the Chicago Sky loss to the New York Liberty on Tuesday.

In the final minutes of the game, Reese was hit with a technical when she “disrespectfully addresses” referee Charles Watson. Then Reese waved her hand as she walked away from Watson, who gave her a second technical foul, resulting in automatic ejection.

A league spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY Sports that Watson made an error when he assessed the technical that ejected Reese.

Reese will still face a $200 fine – which NBA star Lonzo Ball offered to pay for her.

Watson is the same referee who gave Chicago Sky player Chennedy Carter a common foul after she blindsided Caitlin Clark last week.

The WNBA upgraded Carter’s common foul to a flagrant 1 foul, but she was not fined.

The two announcements by the WNBA regarding the same referee led many fans to wonder if the WNBA has an officiating problem.

Some fans say Watson seems to have a problem with WNBA rookies who make more money than he does.
