WNBA Refs Under Fire for No-Call On ‘Dangerous’ Foul Against Caitlin Clark

Once again a WNBA official swallowed their whistle while another player fouled Indiana Fever rookie phenom Caitlin Clark.

The incident happened during Monday night’s road game against the Connecticut Sun. Clark just drained a three-pointer in the face of Sun star Alyssa Thomas.

But Thomas stuck her foot under Clark who landed on Thomas’ foot and fell to the floor. Clark jumped right back up and begged the refs for a foul call, which never came.

Not giving a player enough space to land is an automatic foul in the NBA. But WNBA refs look the other way when a player fouls Clark.

Thomas, 32, is the same player who choke-slammed WNBA rookie Angel Reese during a recent game. Thomas was ejected from the game.

Fans took to social media to protest the injustice. One fan wrote: “is there no shooting space foul for caitlin clark??”

Another fan tweeted: “I don’t like to add to the commentary too much, but the refs can’t let this slide. If a player walks under a shooter it needs to be an AUTOMATIC call. The whistle has not been good so far this year.”

A third person wrote: “The refs hate her too. That’s not a foul but if Caitlin breathes on someone it’s a foul. They’re not even hiding it at this point. They’re all against her.”

Clark has been targeted by players, refs, and even coaches since being selected 1st overall by the Fever in the 2024 WNBA draft. She has been roughed up, shoved, elbowed, and tripped by other players in her first 10 games.

The petty jealously even extended to Team USA. Clark was left off the roster for the Paris Olympics.

Common sense says Clark should be on the Olympic squad. Clark, 22, has sold out nearly every arena in her rookie season. Her presence on Team USA would draw millions of viewers who never watched women’s Olympic basketball before.

Clark’s spot on the Olympic team was given to 42-year-old Diana Taurasi. The Las Vegas Aces star already has 5 Olympic gold medals.

Also included on the 12-player Olympic team roster are Thomas, A’Ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu, Kelsey Plum, Breanna Stewart, Kahleah Copper, and Brittney Griner.

Thomas, Copper and Ionescu are first-time Olympians.
