Rapper Akbar V surprised her followers by discussing politics on her X/Twitter timeline on Monday.
She wrote: “I’m not a democrat i feel like we was brought up to be a democrat cause we was poor and it kept a lot of us in a stuck mindset for slavery ….”
She followed up her post by writing: “I’m not a democrat… but let’s say if i wanted to be one KamalaHarris haven’t given me any reason to be one nor has Joe …. black folks we gotta do better.”
A majority of Black Americans are Democrats from the womb. Being a Democrat is all they know. So Akbar V’s honest opinion didn’t go over well with her followers.
One person wrote: “Did you advocate for Sonya Massey being murdered by the KOP!? Do you know that Donald Trump said he would give that KOP immunity for killing her?”
Another person wrote: “You kno democrats gave you the right to vote, right to report DV, SA to the criminal level, forced creditors to not discriminate for sex,race or disabilities, gave women right for financial support for their businesses & for education, gave women the right to own a bank.”
A third follower wrote: “So you voting Trump babe?”
Akbar V is a former artist on Young Thug’s YSL record label. She was known as “The First Lady of YSL.”
Akbar V appeared in season 8 of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.”
We all are a product of environment and it’s actually backwards. Blk folk were republicans. It should be based off your value’s. But local voting is most important bc that’s where you live. Town hall meetings should be important where you live and your kids live.
