Alex Jones to sell InfoWars to pay $1.5B debt to Sandy Hook families

Alex Jones has moved to sell off his assets to pay his $1.5 billion debt to the families of the Sandy Hook school shooting victims.

The radio host and right-wing conspiracy theorist spread lies that the 2012 school shooting was a “false flag hoax” and that “no one died.”

In 2022, Jones was found guilty of defamation. Judges in Texas and Connecticut ordered Jones to pay $1.5 billion to the Sandy Hook families.

Jones allegedly transferred his assets to family members and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy that same year.

During a bizarre livestream on June 1, Jones broke down in tears and claimed the feds were coming to shut down InfoWars that night.

“All we’re trying to do is save America, and they’re f*****g us over, over and over again,” he wailed.

Jones became hysterical, saying that he was being “targeted for abuse” by “Deep State” actors who wanted to shut down his show.

“At the end of the day, we’re going to beat these people. I’m not trying to be dramatic here, but it’s been a hard fight. These people hate our children,” he said.

The next day, the Sandy Hook families filed an emergency motion in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Houston, asking the judge to liquidate Jones’ companies, rather than allow him to reorganize.

On June 6, Jones’s attorneys filed a motion to convert his bankruptcy to Chapter 7 status. Jones offered to sell off InfoWars and Free Speech Systems, totaling $9 million in assets.

Last year a judge made Jones’ debt “non-dischargeable” through bankruptcy. That means Jones has to continue paying the families the $1.5 billion debt.

Jones, 50, will likely be “basically broke now for the rest of his life,” Harry Litman, a former U.S. attorney, told MSNBC.
