The boyfriend of a 12-year-old girl whose body was found in a Houston creek said he heard her speaking with 2 adults before she was killed.

Houston police said the girl sneaked out of her apartment between 10 p.m. and midnight on Sunday. She was on the phone with her 13-year-old boyfriend when she left the apartment.

The boy told police he heard her speaking with 2 adults at a convenience store just before midnight.

Her body was found in a north Houston creek early Monday.

Police said someone called 911 around 6 a.m. Monday about a child’s body in a ditch. She was found not far from her apartment.

Mayor John Whitmire released new details about the case in a press conference on Monday evening.

According to Whitmire, the girl’s mother last saw her around 10 p.m. Sunday when she put her children to bed.

Whitmire said the girl left home while talking with her 13-year-old boyfriend on the phone that night.
