CNN commentator Michael Eric Dyson allegedly flirted with House Rep. Nancy Mace after calling her a “racist” during an explosive interview.
The incident occurred last month, after Dyson clashed with Mace over her mispronunciation of Kamala Harris’s first name. Dyson accused Mace of disrespecting Harris.
Dyson, 65, told Mace that her mispronunciation of the vice president’s name represents “the legacy of white disregard” for Black Americans.
Mace, 46, refused to correct her mispronunciation of Harris’ name. Dyson later said, “You’re a White woman disrespecting a Black woman.”
“When you disrespect Kamala Harris by saying you will call her whatever you want, I know you don’t intend it to be that way, that’s the history and legacy of white disregard for the humanity of Black people,” Dyson said.
Harris was born to an Indian mother and a mixed race father.

During a House Oversight hearing on Thursday, Mace produced flirty text messages from Dyson.
“I would like to also enter into the record a screenshot of a text message I received from the esteemed professor from Vanderbilt, Michael Eric Dyson,” she said. “After my CNN interview [he] begged me for photos in this text, he says, after calling me racist on CNN,” Mace added.
Dyson apparently sent Mace a photo of the two of them together.
According to Mace, Dyson wrote, “‘Don’t tell anybody we look good together’ and sent me a kissy emoji. Then the guy says I’m gorgeous in all these photos. I don’t think he’s that bent out of shape on how anyone pronounces Kamala.”
Dyson’s wife of 32 years, Marcia, might be bent out of shape to know that her husband flirted with another woman.
Mr. Dyson is an ordained minister and a well-respected professor, who is good friends with former President Barack Obama.
