“It seems like you’re just throwing this trial together as you try it.”
Judge Paige Whitaker, who is presiding over the Young Thug/YSL RICO trial, criticized the Fulton County prosecutor in open court.
Judge Whitaker is appalled by what she sees as a lack of preparation on behalf of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ assistant prosecutor Adriane Love.
The judge seemed frustrated by the prosecutor dragging the case out with endless motions and requests.
In a tense moment in court on Monday, Sept. 30, Judge Whitaker criticized Love for her lack of organization and preparedness. Whitaker stated, “It seems like you’re just throwing this trial together as you try it.”
Earlier in the day there was another tense exchange between the judge and the prosecutor when Whitaker denied motions and request for a mistrial.
Whitaker argued that the prosecutor has presented the case in a “haphazard way” that makes it difficult for the jurors to follow.
Young Thug is on trial for possession of drugs and weapons, participation in criminal street gang activity, and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act.
The case is already the longest in Fulton County history.
Young Thug has been in jail since his indictment in May 2022. He was arrested along with 27 other alleged gang members, including rapper Gunna. Gunna and other defendants have taken plea deals in the case and were released from custody.
