Gucci Mane announced he’s dropping his artists due to the economy

Rap mogul Gucci Mane (right) just announced he’s dropping his artists except for incarcerated rappers Foogiano (left) and Pooh Shiesty (center).

Gucci is pictured above with Foogiano and Pooh Shiesty during happier times at the Republic Lounge in Atlanta on August 12, 2020.

In a livestream video, Gucci Mane complained about the economy. He said he made his decision to release his artists from their contracts after looking at his profit and loss statement.

“You know it’s almost like a whole bunch of shakeup and it’s a whole sh*tshow in the [music] industry right now,” Gucci said. “When I’m looking at my P&L – and me being a businessman – I think that I’ma have to release almost all of my artists, except for Pooh Shiesty and Foogiano.”

Gucci Mane is likely referring to the music industry’s disastrous decision to sign real killers to record deals.

Fans refused to support so-called “drill music,” and hundreds of record label employees lost their jobs or stepped down.

Pooh Shiesty, 24, and Foogiano, 31, are both currently serving time in prison.

Gucci, 44, said he made the unselfish decision to drop his artists so they can “take their talents elsewhere.”

The rap mogul, who began his career as a drug dealer in Atlanta, is known for signing people who are menace to society.

In 2021 Pooh Shiesty (born Lontrell Williams, Jr.) was arrested in connection with a shooting in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida.

Another arrest soon followed in June 2021 for a different shooting in Northwest Miami. On April 20, 2022, Williams was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison. He is still serving his prison sentence with a release date of 2027.

Foogiano (pictured center) is also doing time in prison. He was arrested in 2021 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

While out on bond, Foogiano (born Kwame Khalil Brown) burned off his ankle monitor and went on the run.

He was in the wind for three months before he was arrested by federal marshals in May 2021. After a brief trial, Brown was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
