Nicki Minaj is being mocked for her “moment of silence” for her “dear friend” Princess Diana at her concert in the UK.
The 41-year-old rapper asked for a moment of silence for Princess Di while performing in Birmingham during her Pink Friday 2 Tour on Sunday.
During the concert, Nicki asked fans where they were from and one concertgoer said Wales.
Taking on a British accent, Nicki said, “Wales — it always reminds me of a dear friend of mine, well, she’s not here anymore, but the Princess of Wales.”
“Let’s have a moment of silence for her,” she added as the crowd roared.
Nicki was only 14 years old when Princess Diana died in a car crash in 1997 at age 36.
The rapper has a song with Ice Spice titled “Princess Diana” that dropped in 2023.
Fans took to social media to mock the American rap star.
“A dear friend of mine … She was 14 when Diana died,” one fan tweeted with a laughing emoji.
Another person wrote, “The way the minute’s silence was 3 and a half seconds.”
And someone wrote on TikTok, “The fact Welsh accents r completely different from London accents.”
Nicki was arrested on Saturday after Dutch police found weed in her luggage in Amsterdam.
Nicki was released from police custody after paying a fine. Her Manchester concert is postponed until June.
A statement from Amsterdam’s Royal Military Constabulary read: “We have just released a 41-year-old American woman who we arrested this afternoon at Schiphol on suspicion of exporting soft drugs. After consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, the suspect was fined and can continue her journey.”
